The Music Isn't The Same

The Music isn’t the same

Dear Friends

I’ve been listening to a lot of music lately and it’s all a wash of the same thing. What happen to meaningful lyrics that provoked deep thoughts and made us feel good? It seems that any and every mixed up individual with two bars of repeatable lyrics has a hit today, how can this be, in a place like America the Mecca of modern music. I wonder have we lost our soul or what? Man somebody play me some Al Green. Who at fault and how can the people take the music back?
The radio station is one of the main culprits’ a long with big record labels, that are fighting back extinction i.e. trying to survive in the digital age. Some of the other murderers of good music are the corrupt publishing organizations who take pay for play, and this shuts out the little guy. Thanks to technology the war to reclaim what rightfully belongs to the people has be gone. But today I don’t want to deal with all those issues I just wanted to touch on some of them to lay the ground work for what I think is the number one problem in popular music today.
The artist, yes the artist, why because he or she has compromised the spiritual value of the art of making music they give no thought to the fact that music Gods gift to us, is more than just an avenue to make a quick buck it’s a powerful and inspirational tool that can molded the minds of the people who come under its influence. So it is the responsibility of the artist to make sure he or she is being true to the art. Dose this mean every song to be of certain class, on it just means that all songs should show a high level of mastery on the part of the artist that he or she is not just aimlessly putting words to sound and calling it music.
Let go back to the roots of music, come on brother, sister we can do better and the listener deserve better than what we have given them. I’m not telling you what to write, or what to say, I’m just saying that what ever you do it has to show skill. Be the master that you are, give it your all and perform your best work so that the artist and his or her art form stand out and receives the respect music deserves.
As artist we must move the bar or what we love dies and all is lost.
Bye bye my friends so long until next time I just wanted to share some of my thoughts with you and maybe you would be inclined to listen or tell me what you think. Well what do think about it or do you even care. Peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
