The time has come

Dear Friends

Today friends I sit watching the documentary Keep Your Eyes On The Prize. I can’t help but think what has happened to the struggle for human equality in this country and the world at large. Upon thinking of this my mind turns to Haiti and how people from all over the world are now showing good will. But I can’t help but wonder what we as a human family could be capable of if we would act in places like Haiti before disaster strikes. Why can’t we stand for the weakest among us and protect those in need? Have the leaders of world turned a blind eye to what is painfully obvious to all of us living in this world. What must happen, before we all come to the table of humanity, and discuss what we can do to help bring about a time of peace in this world? Do we feel no shame; have we no since of responsibility for our world. The world that is shared collectively by us all; no matter race, creed, color, rich, poor, man or woman.

Friends I propose that we all take some time to reflect deeply on what we can do as individuals to make life better not only for our families and friends but for all our extended human family. After reflection we must act as one human family for the good of all human beings. We must begin to challenge the leaders of the world not only political leaders but leaders from every segment of society. The church must also face the voices of the people because for many years the church has misused religion to enslave the people, and this must end if we are to change the world for the better. Friends we must take our fight for equality to those who are in most cases directly responsible for the way things get done. For centuries these forces have been operating with impunity with out the slightest concern for what the people need or the consequences of their actions. Now comes the time when we the people must hold these people accountable for what they do when they do harm to our world.

My comrades if the leaders can not meet the needs of the people, then we have no choice but to expel them from the offices they hold in the society, and if need be we must be willing to raise up a new breed of leadership that is closely tied to the community. This new leader of the people must have a deep compassion for humanity and we must work to shield our leader from the ills of society and the harsh attacks sure to come when one fights for the liberation of all people. It may not seem like this can be done but, if we work with true intent then all is possible.

Brothers and sisters we are not children and we have the ability to shape the world as we see fit. Dominion over this world was given to all of us and it is our duty to live up to the challenge that was placed upon of so long ago. I am no great religious person but I have read this in the Holy Bible (Genesis 1:28) and I believe to be so. Some do don’t believe in GOD because of the tragedies of the world but for me this gives me more reason to be thankful to the Lord for His many mercies in trying times. Thankful for the spirit He has put in most of us in ungodly times. A spirit that causes ratchet men to turn from evil and go to the aid of widows and orphans and good men to lay down their lives freely for the well being of us all. For these small bits of hope I am eternally grateful to GOD.

I will leave you with these thoughts. How do you want to be remembered when your life on earth is over? Do you want your children and grandchildren to speak well of you? Also can you let this time pass doing nothing while life is happening all around? Do something with the time you have every little bit counts. Don’t worry about the scale or level of the work you are able to do, just keep working and soon you will be able to see the happening and hopefully the fruits of your labor will be a reward to everyone you contact. In that may you find peace and reason to keep working for the people?
